Literature Review: Social Responsibility (Research Paper Sample) Content: Corporate social responsibility Your Name: Name of the Institution Abstract Corporate Social Responsibility CSR has turned into a prevalent exploration stream in business organisations' hypothesis, as the expanding number of distributions and accurate diaries demonstrate. There can be recognised various endeavours in writing to characterise CSR. In an initial step, the paper surveys chose endeavours, with a specific end goal to pass away the fundamental comprehension of CSR. Moreover, vague ideas of CSR will be talked about. Consequently, experimental studies, dissecting the condition of usage of CSR, will be exhibited. The paper expects to efficient classifications the diverse exploration approaches, keeping in mind the end goal to give a general outline. Late studies in Germany demonstrate that fund divisions are just about not required in CSR usage. Besides, this feeds questions of a companywide execution of CSR. Introduction The underlying reason of the corporate social responsibility can be traced back to 1917 when Henry Ford the founder of an enormous Motor company reported that the motivation behind Ford Motor affiliation is that. "To do however much as could sensibly be typical for everyone pushed, to advantage and utilize it, give trip, and go on the auto where the general open can use it and by the best way to deal with position." after eighty years, his astounding grandson, William Clay Ford Jr underlined that the business respected all the associates' purposes of interest Furthermore the welfare of the shareholders and specialists, as he said that "we need to discover a better approaches to control the satisfaction of customers, give ideal returns over the shareholders and upgrade the world a spot for us." From a business viewpoint, Ford was one of the affiliations, who came up with social responsibility worked out. Meanwhile, from a research point of view, different scholars expect that the Bowen's Social Responsibilities of any Businessman is the most crucial work to talk about the relationship amongst attempts and society. In this book, Bowen battles that affiliations should know about business morals to fulfil whole deal viable execution (Gumenna O. V. 2010). CSR exercises are basic on business ethics. In the midst of the latest 57 years, a couple of revelations have gotten the thought of CSR experts and specialists. These fuse concentrates on which prescribed that CSR practices give an "assurance of" protection when negative events happen; that CSR practices sway bargains advancement, and additionally affect the occupation and endeavor spaces; and that associations with higher CSR examinations may have a supportable high ground set up in the human finance as they pull in progressively and favored workers over organizations with low CSR assessments (Fenwick Tara 2010). In this manner, remembering the finished objective to look for after sustainable change, and, perform a better than average reputation in a fiercely forceful business division, more associations are appropriated like the CSR reports and CSR exposures. The Past Conceptualization in the area of CSR Meanwhile, since the year 1950, the CSR and all its related terms, for corporate social reactions, corporate altruism, corporate social responsiveness, corporate citizenship, and the corporate social execution have been dominated and started from the zone of the organisation. In light of prior business and group taking in, a couple of CSR studies investigate the CSR subject, and all the related insights that are obtained from different views, for the case, the social obligation, advancing, assistant Association, joined strategy, and action topics (Lindgreen et al., 2010). This part ponders the fundamental CSR associated perspectives driven by those association related subjects. The Social Obligation Driven Additionally, all the important criticalness of the CSR was once endorsed by Bowen, as a social obligation " to carry out research on the systems, to make after those lines of the move that are not pleasing terms of the estimations and destinations of the general populace." However, the obligation of the social perspective of the CSR is the development of all the future study when it comes to the CSR zone. Besides, the budgetary responsibility delivers that the affiliations should give associations and stoke that the whole populace wants at the same time offer them at the favourable position. Genuine trust recommends that organisations should obey all the headings and the societal laws. Meanwhile, when it come to the moral responsibility, it can be portrayed as the societal wants of the extended organisation routes past good old fashioned crucial. Sympathetic duty allocates "all these parts are therefore determined and the selection to recognise them is controlled by the business' yearning to share in like manner parts not educated, not required by law, and not even in the principle expected of relationship in a moral sense." Overall, the pyramid of the CSR exemplifies the four primary levels of the social duties that the society imagines that the affiliations will perform (BaagÃÆ' ¸-Rasmussen and L 2010). Promoting Driven Publicising the scholars began by considering CSR problems from the year 1960, and they concentrated on all the social obligations identified with propelling points of confinement, without taking into account the particular parts of the CSR processes. Besides, the CSR-related research in the showcasing range puts much concentration on the estimations, for the occurrence, the cause-related advancing, social sponsorship, typical showcasing, conversing with buyers concerning CSR issues, clients reaction to official CSR conduct, and corporate notoriety. Meanwhile, the cause-related showcasing is portrayed as "the sort of the level tie in the midst of the corporate courses and be Nova lances of action progress, as synonymous with corporate sponsorship of important causes, and as the beginning and financing of the defending causes." Meanwhile, a few researchers look at how to use the CSR processes to make the client dependability, develop the whole market respect, and make the corporate brand predominance strongly (Simion et al., 2010). This research work thinks about the above builds up the relationship amongst the CSR and propelling association that expands the comprehension in both the CSR and the advancing zones. Notwithstanding, the core reasoning of the CSR from moving the viewpoint just by highlights the relations with one of the accessories, particularly buyers (Marinescu et al., 2010). Chiefs a little piece at once see that there is more social responsibility works out, and more liberal accessory packs should be considered. The Partner Relation Driven The associateà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s theory is an establishment of the CSR subject and movement. As appeared by (Marinescu et al., 2010) in the meantime, there are two fundamental principle motivations of the element of the CSR takes a shot at concerning frill relations: the first is the reasonable framework. As affiliations rely on upon partners for their persevering support or giving resources, authorities need to consider the cases and necessities from extras. The other one is from the moral perspective, as Donaldson and Preston fight that "all persons or social affairs with incredible out of date premiums taking an avidness for an attempt do in that capacity to get plants and there is no by all appearances need of one course of action of incentives or legitimate circumstances over another." Scholars take a gander at CSR issues from the frill alliance perspective, focusing on correspondences with embellishments (Simion et al., 2010), the effect of partner relations on corporate sensib ility (O Olufemi. 2010), CSR care among extras and its relationship with corporate budgetary execution, corporate hypothesis, and agent constancy. Besides, interface colleague speculation and the CSR subject to propose another thought, partner dazzling quality, which engages the examination of embellishment relations in the CSR range. The Coordinated Strategy Driven In light of the talk of showcasing and adornment alliance relationship in the CSR field, more specialists regard the examination of CSR issues from the masterminded rationale edge. Case in point, (O Olufemi. 2010) point that "affiliations show in a socially mindful manner when they alter their practices to the models and demands comprehended by their indispensable partners" and they deliver a structure to analyse the antecedents and results of different levelled CSR conduct from fundamental embellishment perspective. Simion et al., (2010) produce a figure to clarify in the midst of the social change set up, some piece of colleagues, embellishment alliance relations, and how frill impact dynamic structure through the parts. SÃÅ'Å’arotar et al., (2010).watch that CSR which is introduced in a masterminded system may be stamped "key CSR". From the ideal position based speculation approach, they discuss those conditions under which key CSR adds to the true blue down to earth high grou nd. A few specialists take a gander at the blended corporate activities in political alliance and battle that practioners "need to give cautious thought to the ethical parts of their subject, as delicacy to do in light of current circumstances will injure the get-together hypothetically and thusly undermine its genuineness and realness" (Marinescu et al., 2010). The Authority Driven On the reason of forwarding and backwards development activity styles (e.g., transformational, attracting, right blue, moral, participative, genius, shared, and inconceivable affiliation), a couple of specialists endeavour to join CSR into power hypo...

Behavioral Finance and Wealth Management

Question: Discuss about the Behavioral Finance and Wealth Management. Answer: Introduction The company in focus is Pacific America coal Ltd which is a listed mining company in the ASX that is focused on developing coal assets in North America. The companys main focus is increasing value of its shares to its shareholders (Berk and DeMarzo, 2007). A Chief Finance Officer of an organization is mainly a part of the managerial team of the same, and therefore as such is in charge of the maximization of shareholder funds invested. In nations with established stock exchanges , is the price of the share which determines the performance of management to investors of the organization (BRADSTREET, 2009). Role of the CFO Firstly , the CFO optimizes the returns of the organization . In spite of this , this should not always mean an optimum return to investors . The value placed on shareholders funds over time may lead them to choose one or even the other alternate . We cant disregard the risk component associated with the expectation of future return in fact the more the risk is the prerequisite for shareholder gain . The greater amount of profits can be accomplished even by authorizing more stock shares to accounting profits increase with diminishing liabilities , however this may imply that earnings per share is decreased (Curtis, 2012) . Similarly , you will find utilities which do not need automatic conversions in dividends , or even which are distributed to owners .The CFO is responsible for raising funds for the company to operate at the lowest possible and the best conditions of repayment cost and this has always been the traditional activity of a Chief finance officer. Without sufficient fundi ng the company does not operate optimally (Drucker and Maciariello, 2008).The only way to know which is the level of debt and funds that should be available at all times, is through a budget appropriate cash, prepared by the CFO based on the information of the productive and service areas usually at the end of last year and with periodic reviews adjustment, depending on the circumstances. Funds for the organization are not limitless , so they were , you can get an optimum above that is very expensive to possess surpluses (Hillier, 2010). Money is an asset that generates extra value so the standard must always' employ it to generate more than it costs , with the exception of one least amount cash permanently should be maintained basically idle to avoid instances illiquidity. The role of the CFO would be to keep a proper equilibrium between liquidity and profitability . An illiquid organization , without enough funds , will not function effectively , and a organization with excessive liquidity is extremely costly . This is a problem that should be dealt with by a CFO . Fortunately , to attain liquidity you will find ways to retain cash on hand or even banking institutions , like the banks which enables one to have quick access , maintain quotas overdraft , possess readily liquidated assets , etc . The most difficult tasks of a CFO is having the ability to manage the surplus cash (Jordan and Michel, 2001). Distribution of money among the several areas of the organization as well as priorities areas is yet another role of the CFO .In budgeting, preferences ought to be as per the needs of the organization which first allocates funds to the areas which are key .If there is a number of production lines , they need to establish their profit and loss , or even better , their cash flow , providing close focus on the gross profit margins are presented from month to month . It can be equally important to occasionally index stock turnover and also portfolio which helps detect fast irregular situations in the business (Nelken, 2006). Another extremely important role of a CFO would be to make sure that the financial statements are timely and dependable , working also in its analysis . Likewise , the state demands periodic submission of various formats with operating and income tax information , the regular submission which ought to be monitored . Quality of accounting info relies on their timeliness as well as correct posting . The other role is to create management policies of the company with regards to finances . The CFO works mainly on current assets , explaining the management of cash and banks , accounts receivable and inventory (Nikbakht and Groppelli, n.d.) . The other function is to set debt structure for which the company can optimally operate in. How responsibility of CFO can impact objective of the company The CFO has to be well aware that financial decisions must consider non-financial aspects for example Market conditions , legal , labor , strategy e.t.c the following are objectives of a company Maximize profits Every companies must endeavor to raise their profitability , if they want to remain in business . Whether or not through the growth of new markets , seeking out for new products and solutions to offer to people , increase revenue margins as well as minimizing unnecessary expenses , organizations must find ways to improve profitability , both now and in the long term . The CFO should come up with ways to increase earnings by making sure the company makes the right investments and does business at very low cost (Pompian, 2012) . Increased market share One of the important corporate objectives is to increase your market share. For example the Pacific america coal Ltd should increase market share and the CFO is responsible by ensuring that he comes up with ways of increasing this market share either by formulating a blue print to increase the market share. Develop current product lines Providing the similar goods for a long time creates stagnation in the market . Whilst expanding wild is not advisable , try out new services and products to find out what the industry can support is an excellent strategy for growth as well as company objective . This not just promotes the product line , but additionally increases the market potential ( Ross , Westerfield and Jaffe , 2005 ) . The CFO together with product development manager should ensure that the company has new products to offer in the market . Increase employee retention rates Many corporate objectives target growth and profitability . However , its also wise to focus on the time of setting up the infrastructure of company objectives . If present rates of staff retention is little , it means that output is suffering and , as such , the organization goals can never be met . Increasing staff retention rates cuts down the amount and time invested in training new staff who , in return , helps profitability . An illustration of this this is a corporate target for an organization with a retention rate of 60 % currently to work to retain 80 % of its existing workforce until next year . If adjustments are necessary to satisfy this objective , as higher pay or even better benefits , these items must be included in the objective . The CFO ensures that the company provides good remuneration terms to its employees to keep them ( Ross , Westerfield and Jaffe , 2005 ) . Another objective of the company is to minimize cost, the CFO is responsible for creating operations that reduce wastes and increase efficiency in the company thus he is very important for Pacific American Coal Ltd and ensures that the company incurs very minimal costs. If the company want to make a profit this year to be taken into account actions such as deferring maintenance, keep the lower limits inventories and take measures to reduce costs One of the main activities of the Chief finance officer is financial planning, in which are concentrated the three main tasks of the Chief finance officer which are; Investment decisions are all companies with limited resources and these should be allocated in different activities or projects competing. You must decide where to invest and when to invest, always looking for that these investments are designed to meet the objective function Funding decisions are when the company must make investments that contribute to the generation of value, including Chief finance officers must worry about where to get the funds or resources for such investments. Overall the company has two form to obtain resources through shareholders or creditors (Ross, Westerfield and Jordan, 2007) . Dividend decisions is when the company must decide how much profit is generated must be reinvested in the same and that both must be returned to shareholders. These decisions must be made with special care because if the company returns to shareholders a high percentage of income, growth potential will be lower and the company could be worth less in the long run. This effect will be even greater in companies that miss investment opportunities. For Pacific America coal ltd , the CFO, should know the trend of the exchange rate and should study new situations, such as the case of a change in the pattern of development of a country. The Chief finance officer, given his interaction with all areas and how this affects the global market. Each of them will take us to meet the objective of Chief finance officer function. Exemplifying the above found that if the administration does what is necessary for the company to survive, we might think that it is making a profit, thus it approaches meet the objective function; if the financial difficulties are avoided and that the company falls into bankruptcy might also be able to maximize the wealth of shareholders (Smart, Megginson and Gitman, 2004). Role of a fund manager The role of a fund manager is Carrying fund accounting and discretionary management of investment portfolios, including the pension fund. Another role of a fund manager is to manage the fund where the owners should be able to get profits and also investors who put their capital in this structure seeking to optimize their investments involved (Strachman, 2012). Other functions include obligations of the fund Investment Consulting, rights and, as well as the risk policy, quantification of positions, and also informing the investor on a regular basis. The other role of a fund manager is Carrying fund accounting and discretionary management of investment portfolios, including the pension fund. The fund manager also carries out the investments of the assets of the fund and reports periodical changes in investment policy and the fees charged to participants. Niobium (Columbium) Chemical and Physical Properties

Niobium (Columbium) Chemical and Physical Properties Niobium, like tantalum, can act as an electrolytic valve allowing alternating current to pass in only one direction through an electrolytic cell. Niobium is used in arc-welding rods for stabilized  grades of stainless steel. It is also used in advanced airframe  systems. Superconductive magnets are made with Nb-Zr wire, which retains superconductivity in strong magnetic fields. Niobium is used in lamp filaments and to make jewelry. It is capable of being colored by an electrolytic process. Read the book it is a Wonder life (Capra,1946) and do the questions Dissertation

Read the book it is a Wonder life (Capra,1946) and do the questions below - Dissertation Example This movie is generally believed to be addressing the themes of honesty and sacrifice or upholding of virtues that ensure civic and familial welfare. However, in-depth analysis of its storyline brings forth the fact that it largely focuses on highlighting the negative outcomes of Capitalism when rapaciousness encircles it. Frank Capra presents two sets of approaches to run a financial enterprise, and this forms the actual theme of the movie; the conflict between ethics based business plan and an interest based one is evident throughout. The protagonist George Bailey endorsed an inclusive business model and used a straightforward and morality-based policy for running Bailey Building and Loan Association. This paper is an attempt to unearth the way Capra depicted an Inclusive model inspired business enterprise in It’s a Wonderful Life using examples from the movie. A business model is a concept developed by an enterprise to devise some definite business logic required to make th e company and its stakeholders earn profit. This model also determines the interactivity and relativity between a business’s core elements, I-e capital, raw material and labor (Bastiaens, Baumeol, and Kreamer 31). Bedford Falls is a small town where the chief financing institution is owned by George Bailey. George Bailey is the good guy who puts both his heart and mind in the business. Therefore, in Bedford Falls under Bailey’s headship, â€Å"banks are small, local, family-run enterprises that help the common people by lending them money to buy homes, run small businesses and build a community; dodgy mortgages are not bundled up and sold off as new investment vehicles to unsuspecting investors† (Lethbridge). This propels the notion that Bailey opted for an Inclusive business model since this type largely focuses on ensuring the welfare of the minorities, poor and/or low-income groups within a community. In an Inclusive Business Model, the approach induced is us ually targeted towards the betterment of the masses instead of the profitability aspect of the company. World Business Council for Sustainable Development describes Inclusive model as â€Å" one, which seeks to contribute toward the alleviation of poverty by including lower-income communities within its value chain while not losing sight of the ultimate goal of business† (Michelini 24). The feature that explains the business model followed by Bailey is that he prefers satisfying public domain, social welfare and community interests over his own financial prosperity. When the company’s shareholder Henry Potter proposes to halt financial aid to working-poor and convinces the Board of Directors too, Bailey is the only one who not just rejects this proposal but wins back the confidence of board members in this regard. At no point in the movie has Bailey been shown as a wealthy self-sufficient man. In the scene when he is leaving for honeymoon and gets information about the bank run his company is about to face; he is not able to generate more than $2000 to pay to the depositors. It was the amount that he had saved to utilize for his honeymoon expenditures. This means that his approach to business is humane, and he strived to keep all the sections of society compatible and intact. As per the rules of Inclusive Model, Bailey involved the

From past history, to present scenarios, li terature presents social phenomena in a very effective manner. It not only gives the description of the facts but gives value-addition to them which helps us understand life and its various facets in the most beautiful manner. It also helps us to highlight and understand the various problems occurring in the society. Racial discrimination is one such issue. Many authors have written books, short stories, poems etc on this much debatable topic. In this paper, we discuss the impact of racial discrimination by comparing two poems which highlight the issue. Racial Discrimination Racism can be defined as negative beliefs, attitudes, actions, or behaviors that are based on various different characteristics or ethnic affiliations (Patcher et al., 2010). It is the unfair treatment of any individual based on his race or because of the personal characteristics associated to his race. One of the examples of this is treating people unfavorably because of their color complexion. While racism hap pens all over the world in various countries, racism by Western powers toward non-westerners had a significant impact on history as compared to any other form such amongst Asians, Africans etc. The most renowned instance of racial has been slavery when referred to the West, particularly developing Africans into slaves. This happened because of the racist belief that Black Africans were not as human as white Europeans and their descendants. Racism affects every individual who becomes target to it. It particularly has effect on children and the youth. They are already struggling to find meaning to their life at this sensitive age, and such time of discrimination has adverse consequences on them. Racism as a stressor may produce negative biological or psychological responses to the behavioral and emotional health of children and may also explain within-group variability in health status and health results (Clark et al., 1999). Based on this my thesis statement would be: ‘Racial d iscrimination has far-reaching effects on the youth’ Literature Comparison The two pieces selected for this comparison are Child of the Americas by Aurora Levins Morales and What it’s like to be a Black Girl by Patricia Smith. Both are poems written by American authors having African origin. These poems highlight the discrimination against Blacks in America. With this analysis however, we will try to understand how racial/color discrimination is disturbing in any part of the world against any kind of race and its effects on the youth who are trying to settle in, trying to understand life, and trying to grow up; are much more. Let us first analyze each work separately and then compare them. Child of the Americas The author of this poem, daughter of an American Jewish father and a Puerto Rican mother, was born in Puerto Rico and moved to America at the age of 13. In this poem,

Therapeutic Communication Essay Example for Free

Therapeutic Communication Essay The medical dictionary describes a therapeutic communication as â€Å"A process in which the nurse consciously influences a client or helps the client to a better understanding through verbal or nonverbal communication†. This communication summary will describe an event which occurred on a work placement in practise. A reflective frame work will be used to evaluate the interaction; Gibb’s reflective model will be used within the essay. hilst on placement with the district nurse we received a call from a patient informing us that her leg was not â€Å"quite right†, as she has problems with her eye sight she wasn’t able to give us a description on what state her leg was in. I went out and discovered when observing that this patient had leg ulceration which was on both sides of her left leg. I questioned descriptively to see how long she was feeling uncomfortable, she reported that it was over two months; this enabled me to place the event in time and helped me to gain a visual picture of the circumstances. I encouraged description of events by asking the patient how it went on noticed as she has carers visiting her twice a day to apply creams. It happened as a result in the carers having communication issues as they did not report changes on the breakdown of the patient’s skin. Whilst focusing on the wound I decided the appropriate form of intervention would be compression bandages. The patient was reluctant to have a bandage applied to her leg although I empathised with the patient by informing them what would happen if the appropriate bandage was not applied and that it was the only possible way of getting it to heal properly. At the time I was thinking that the patient was not informing me properly and felt they were not telling me the full story of how the wound got to the stage it has. The fact that I got information from the patient was good as I was able to see how they felt and what appropriate measures had to be taken. The bad part of the experience was that the patient seemed reluctant to give me information as she didn’t want the wound to appear as bad and she was trying to avoid bandages being applied to her legs. I realised that the situation was not managed well, and that if there was no communication issues between the carers and the district nurse the situation would have been avoided. I could have asked a lot more closed questions and kept open questions to a minimal to gather specific information. I also could have reassured the patient a lot more by telling them that the decision of using compression bandages and explained the purpose of using compression, and explained how this would make a huge different to the wound in a short period of time. If the situation was to rise again I would approach it a lot more sensitively and I would try and gather more information by firstly gaining a better rapport with the patient, then asking open questions to gather a wider amount of information, then to gain specific information I would ask closed questions. This will allow me to get all the information I need and at the same time the patient will be more relaxed and comfortable with the decision and outcome.

Sibling Society :: essays research papers

The Sibling Society by Robert Bly is a moving call for the rediscovery of adulthood. It is not about siblings in a family. Robert Bly has used the term â€Å"sibling society† as a metaphor to suggest that we are in a culture that doesn't look up to parents or to grandparents. What are these siblings like? The description of the â€Å"sibling society† builds throughout the book. They are a society of half-adults who lack dedication to causes, justices and caring. At what point do they become full-fledged adults? We are all perpetual half-adults pursuing our own pleasure. This pleasure has become the disease of our society. The need to stay young for adults has corrupted our society. The book’s array of anecdotes and examples attempt to prove a chilling point. The point is that our nation is one of adults regressing towards adolescence and adolescents with no desire to become adults. Where have all the grownups gone? In his interpretation of social change, he sees a society adolescent in its behavior, no matter what age or geographic location. â€Å"Sibling society† acts as a lens focusing on tendencies, habits and griefs we have all noticed. Of all these griefs and tendencies none is so destructive as the absence of fathers. The role of the father has gone through a drastic change. Fathers are no longer the sole center of the family, the breadwinners. In traditional society older men played an important role in rearing boys. But in our society the elderly is locked behind the doors of nursing homes and not around to pass down their wisdom. Respect for elders has given way to the furious competition of peers who strive not to be good but to be famous. Where have all the grownups gone? With single parents working full time jobs, babies are carted off to day care centers to have someone else raise them instead of their parents. In the sibling culture that Bly describes, the talk show replaces family. Television has robbed children of their ability to use their imagination just when it should be flowering. Instead of art, we have the Internet. Bly grieves computers as well, arguing that they have caused children to withdraw into an artificial world. In place of community we have the mall. Through his use of poetry and myth, Bly takes us beyond sociological statistics and tired psychobabble to see our problem anew.

A Visit to a Famous City

A few months ago my father and I visited Singapore, one of the most famous cities in Asia. Singapore, a small island, lies at the southern and of West Malaysia. A long and narrow piece of land joins Singapore with Johore Hahru, the southern-most town of West Malaysia. Singapore is now an independent state. The city of Singapore is extremely beautiful. It is well known for its centers of business and other activities. There are many places of interest such as the Tiger Balm Garden, the Botanical Gardens and Raffles Museum. There are also many important centers of learning such as the University of Singapore, Science Centre, the Nanyang University and the Polytechnic. Being a famous city, hundreds of people come everyday from various parts of the world to do business or to enjoy the sights of the city. Singapore therefore has large and beautiful airports and its harbors are full of ships. There are many night schools where people who cannot go to the day schools for some reason or other can continue their studies. And, the government of Singapore is still doing its best to make further improvements in the city for the benefit of the people.During my stay in Singapore, I went out everyday with my father to see the beautiful and interesting places and things in the city. One day we went to the Tiger Balm Garden where I saw several statues of people, animals and other strange creature beautifully made and kept. The sea near this garden makes it a pleasant place to visit. We spent almost half of the day at this place. Another day we visited the museum where I saw hundreds of curious things preserved for scholars and others. It was indeed an education to see all those things. There is so much to learn here that every visit by any person is sure to add to his knowledge. I also visited some of the harbors and saw the large ships anchored there. The sight of the ships aroused a desire in me to cross the oceans and go round the world. I was indeed deeply impressed by activi ties at the harbor. Then every night, I went round the town and visited some of the parks and other places of interest. The numerous lights and the constant stream of traffic kept the city alive. I visited a few of the cinemas as well. In short, I enjoyed every moment of my stay in this famous city of Singapore.

Barn Burning Essay - 754 Words

William Faulkners Barn Burning, Through the eyes of a child In William Faulkners Barn Burning, Faulkner has chosen to tell his story through the point of view of a small boy, Sartoris Snopes. By choosing Sartoris’ viewpoint , Faulker has enabled the one person who was both closely affected by Abners behavior and had the power to do something about it. He has realized that his father was wrong when he said that You got to learn to stick to your own blood or you aint going to have any blood to stick to you.
